The First Gray

They say age is just a number and for the most part I believe this to be true. They even say a persons age can be determined by the wisdom they possess, but I don't think this is true. Wisdom can come at any age. I say age becomes relevant to you when you are looking in the mirror, getting ready to go out with your husband and you look up and see......the first gray hair. It has the nerve to be right up front gleaming away in a mirror at you smiling. "Hello, here I am, silver and coarse SURPRISE". I am sure my husband thought I might have just been shot because the sound that came out of the bathroom was of immense displeasure and pain. As I holler for him to come to the bathroom for removal, I begin to feel my eyes fill up with water but I hold them back. As he arrives in the door, I am sure I am a site to see standing there with my index finger pointing to the top of my head like a flashing neon sign at a cheesy motel. "What" he asks. "Pluck it" I tell him. "Pluck what" he asked. "The hair, the gray hair, you don't see it" I exclaimed. By this time he is laughing uncontrollably, "It is not funny", I yell. As he starts the extraction, with as much of a straight face as he could muster, I stand there waiting for justice. "I'll show you gray hair" I said to myself. After what seemed like a million years my darling husband has the nerve to say to me "I can't find it". "What do you mean you can't find it" I say, "It was just standing straight up on the top of my head". He looks at me and smiles, turns around and goes and sits back in the living room. Now I don't know if he is just blind or he thought it would be amusing for him to watch me in the bathroom for hours trying to remove this hair. I hope for his sake, he is blind.

For days I was trying to figure out how to get rid of it. I looked up eco-friendly hair coloring products. It is true there really is a Eco Friendly product out there for everything. Here are a few I found:

After careful consideration and days of stewing on this gray hair I have decided to keep it. I am gonna wear it proudly I earned it. Being a brunette is like having a black dress on everything shows on it. I do envy the blondes of the world. For now I will just not look in the area of my horrid gray and smile at the wisdom I have learned along the way to earn such a "Gray" honor.
