We thought this Tuesday we would switch it up and show some love to our sweet, cuddly, furry children. Some of us at The Little Seed don't have children, but we do have some cute puppies - check out the photos above of our loved ones. Since the holiday season is around the corner and this is a great homemade present for our pups at home. This recipe for Peanut Butter and Cheddar Dog Treats comes straight from The Supernatural Kids Cookbook by Nancy Mehagian. We carry the book at our store and they fly off the shelves - stop by and pick up a copy or call us at to have a book shipped to your house (323.462.4441). Let's get our aprons on and get started...
Here's what you'll need....
1cup milk
1/2 cup natural peanut butter (smooth)
1 egg
1/2 cup wheat germ
1/2 cup oat bran
1 cup grated Cheddar cheese
2 1/4 cups whole wheat flour
preheated oven to 300 degrees
Pour milk and peanut butter into an electric mixer and blend. Add the egg and continue blending. Next, add wheat germ, oat bran and cheddar cheese. When you have mixed it thoroughly, slowly add the flour until a dough forms. Roll the doing in a ball and place on a lightly floured surface. Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough until you have a circle about 1/4 inch think. Use your cookie cutters to cut into shapes of your choice. Keep putting the dough back together and roll out until you have used it all. Place the newly biscuits on a greased baking sheet and bake for 30-40 minutes. Allow to cool and then feel free to spoil your dogs! Store in the fridge in an airtight container.
