The Gulf Coast region is home to some of the country's most gorgeous beaches and idyllic nature habitats, and many vacation spots are a fraction of the cost of many of the more well-known destinations (especially these days). Now more than ever the Gulf region is a wonderful choice for your next getaway-choosing a vacation in this beautiful area will give you and your family some much needed R&R after a hectic summer, and gives much-needed vacation dollars to an area in need.

Below are several spots that are out of the reach of the oil disaster, but still close enough to help out the troubled economies of these beautiful states. All of which are of course, the usual Kiddieuptravel-type of inspired and inspiring getaways the whole family will love!
