Welcome to this week's Feature Friday Member, Lisa Hill. Lisa was one of our lucky members who won a gift at the Virtual 'Little Seed for Target' Launch Party we hosted here a few weeks back. She brought a ton of fun with her, congratulating the other winners as we went along and throwing out fantastic ideas for more parties we should throw in the future - that's when we knew we loved her! Hi! My name is Lisa Hill and I can honestly admit it's a little hard for me to define myself to you in just a few simple words! I am married to my soulmate Mark, mother to my beautiful daughter Gianna, part-time childcare provider at a church, entrepreneur, artist, freelance writer, crafter, home baker, constant dieter, OCD and a Twitter Addict!
Now providing I haven't scared you off to read another post, I would love to share more about me with you...
I am a month shy of 38 years old (I still can't believe I graduated high school 20 years ago!). I grew up in Wayne, NJ, which is 30 minutes from Manhattan. My first marriage didn't quite last 4 years and I am thankful for that! Had that not happened, I wouldn't have met the man of my dreams! Now don't get me wrong, I don't resent my first hubs, we were just more buddies than husband & wife!
Two years ago, we moved to Louisiana for my husband's job. I left my full-time job of 9 years and we figured I would stay home and take care of our daughter, Gianna. Yikes! We got here and I didn't know what to do with her! She was always in daycare back in NJ. Now she was 100% my responsibility 24/7. That took some getting used to I assure you (meds helped a bit too! lol). I began working at the church part-time as a childcare provider. That's sort of funny when you think about it because I was lost when I had to care of 1 little girl! lol! But again, thankfully I did. It has taught me a lot about making new friends, how children act at different ages and how to be happy with the simple things in life.

NJ was fast paced, Louisiana is not! I have changed so much since I moved. I am no longer the high maintenance girl I used to be. Things that I thought were important then don't compare to what's really important now. I want to raise my daughter to believe in herself and her dreams. To have fun, to make new friends and to be conscious of the world around her.
I started my business, Lehla Shop, almost 1 year ago. It began as a tutu business but has grown into so much more! I am constantly challenging myself to create new things for the shop. I recently purchased my first sewing pattern online and just started sewing. The pattern I purchased was for an Upcycled T-Shirt Dress, from Lil Blue Boo. IT'S AMAZING! I can now recycle knit shirts into dresses! I have been making them for my daughter and people go crazy when she wears them! So I just keep on making them for her! lol! They give my daughter her own original style! So you can see how this has lead to a new love of sewing!

Ultimately I want to start selling them and feature them in my Etsy shop. I am very passionate about everything I do. Creating is an outlet for me and a way to express myself.
Another way I express myself is through my writing. It has been a dream of mine to write a children's book. And I am in the process of making that happen. I also write for a local magazine. And when I tell you I am a Freelance writer, I really am (I don't make a cent!). But I continue writing for them to build my resume. Which leads me to my Blog! A work in progress! I have been spending a lot of time creating and learning how to grow my blog. People say I have a way with words...so that's why I write!
I realize I am already successful, being a mother and a wife. But I want also want to be independently successful. I don't know what direction my company is headed but I continue to hope it's in a positive one. It is important that I to teach my daughter to reach for the stars, and that hard work DOES make dreams come true!
xoxo,
lisa
