Girls can paint it pink and decorate with cute designs.... boys can add racing stripes and flames... either way, boy or girl, the kids will be thrilled and excited for this weeks eco-friendly art project - a cardboard race car! So get out your toilet paper rolls and get ready for some fun! Don't forget to collect your toilet and paper towel rolls, empty water bottles and coffee cans because every Wednesday we feature some kind of eco-friendly arts and crafts project!
Here's what you'll need...
- 1 toilet paper roll
- old cereal box or other cardboard (for the wheels)
- a straw
- string
- scissors
- paint or markers
First, paint the toilet paper roll with what ever designs or colors your child would like. For the younger ones you can even outline images on with a pencil so they can color them in. Imagination is key. Next, puncture a hole at each end for the straw to fit through. Cut four circles for the wheels and poke a hole at each center. Have them paint the wheels any way they would like. Next, cut your straw in half and insert through the wheel and toilet paper roll. To ensure durability, take your string at each wheel and tie a knot to hold it in place. Next is easy....ENJOY... the beautiful masterpieces and fun that comes along with making a race car!
