Has anyone seen the show, "Parenthood"? Did you see the story line about the family with the child that has been diagnosed with Aspergers? I have found that many of the parents of kids with Special Needs have found it hard to come to terms with the diagnosis. Many of them have felt the guilt, grief and frustration that comes with it.
Then there is a moment of acceptance and a tremendous amount of hard work that comes with the learning of how to handle the special needs. My eldest son is now 12 almost 13 and I have realized that there is now a whole separate set of needs and tasks that must be dealt with and understood in order to help him have the most out of life.
Just so you know there are many times that you might not think that there are others that are there to lean on, but there are. It is almost a new set of family members that you can go to for advice and understanding. I hope you are all having a great time with your children!
