I thought my son had eczema on his face - his doctor says its cradle cap and to use selsun blue!!!

I thought my 3 month old son had eczema on side of his face I took him to his doctor he told me my son had cradle cap on his head and it spread to his face I was told to wash his head and that side of the face with selsun blue shampoo.  The results were worst than when we started now he has red scabs and pus I feel terrible. I read your acticle in "Superbaby" and it almost sounded the same as my experience.  Just wondering if you have any ideas?

I use Dr. Bronner's mild baby pure castile soap bar for the same thing. It also last forever!!
we had an eczema vs cradle cap problem with our kids but it resolved after going gluten and dairy free. My SIL, married to my step-brother (so no gene relation) has kids who flair to gluten, corn(GMO), and dairy. She herself gets eczema on her legs from dairy.  My MD wasn't aware of the food allergy link to eczema but hers was, luckily.   It takes near a week to heal after omitting the trigger foods but shows up quickly if accidentally ingested.  My kids react to wheat germ oil in lotion too so we use Bronners or california baby.
try olive oil, cradle cap is just a build up and needs to be loosened.  Use organic don't want any pesticides going on the delicate skin,  Anything with a oil base will soften it.  You might have to do it a couple of times but it will come loose, you can also the oil on his head and in his hair.
Whatever it truly is...I would use organic coconut oil on it.  It is amazing for dry skin.  If it is eczema then I agree with Amy.  Going dairy free/gluten free will have some amazing results.  Is your baby breastfed or formula fed?  If they are breastfed then you may need to alter your diet as well.  I hope this helps.
